I hope you have solved this problem, but i hate to inform you that windows 95 98 and me does not support ram over 768mb, if you try and run it with 1024 your computer will say not enough memory, but if you run a 512 and a 256 thats the best you can get out off the above os, switch to xp and you can have your 1024, but even if a board says you can have 2gb you can not that equals 2048gbs which again is to much for the board to handle.

Hi, A little addidtional confusion. There is a whole bunch of info on making 98 work with 2 gigs. Just search for it. I have never been able to get any of it to work. I don't really need it so didn't waste a lot of time trying.

Good Luck to all, Jim

Yeh that is why in genenral people say it doesnt work as it is a bit of a touchy thing to do as it depends on your Motherboard, how up to date your windows was at the time etc.

Hi Mort, At the time I tried it my motherboard was state of the art and capable of 2 gigs. What more would I need. Again I don't need it, so why bother.

Luck, Jim
