does an error message pop up. or when it turns off does it make a sound like a high pitch bump sound?
you could try booting in safemode. to do this is done a couple of different ways. when your computer starts to boot try pressing the F8 button. then select safemode. hit enter.

if F8 does not work try the delete button.
safemode runs windows main drivers only this may give you an opportunity to run a virus scan.

also you may have a heat problem. do you have any fans for cooling?

If running your computer in safe mode freezes on a black screen with lots of file names on it, and the last file name on the screen ends with mup.sys, thats BAD. The only way ive found to fix your problem is to re-install the operating system. sympathies.

The first thing to try is to download AVG anti virus freeware then switch off your macafee no need to uninstall it, i had a simuler problem with a two day old dell pc with this anti virus programe, try one thing at a time only to avoid confusion, try SNAPFILES or COMPUTER ACTIVE ITS FREE ; ALAN.
