My daughter as just been sorting out several years of photos all on cds so that she could put them on a USB hard drive, when she placed one lot on my pictures to sort out the rubbish ones from the good she found that on deleting photos her PC would replace this pic with several more, does anyone know of a virus that could multiply in this way, you start of with one hundred and end up with several hundred, perhaps there is a special anti virus programe i could find, i should say that she is not on the internet at all never as been so she must have picked this up from my PC some time ago when writing CDs, i have not had this problem myself, thanks ; alan

I dont think you have a virus, what may have happened is when your daughter was selecting the files she needed ie more than one at a time its very simple to move the mouse at the wrong time and it will just create copies of all the selected files.

Thanks steve, we were in a bit of a panic i was not with her when it append but i have just tried it here at home if you are a bit cacky handed it is possible to recreate the problem silly as it sounds, but alls well that ends well, i realy thought that i had to format her hard drive and reinstall XP, thanks again; alan

yep dont worry i have done it lots of times, when moving my pics about, i held control button down and selected about 50 pics and you guest it let go of themouse button and hey ho 50 copies .
