I was bitten by the webmaster bug about a year ago...since then I try something new every month - get the biggest thrill out of it all. I would like to take steps up to the point where I can manage my own dedicated server. I have read servers on the web. My conclusions are: It seems that in most cases the power of the processor is not the most critical thing but the ability for the mb to move data quickly around the mb and for the mb to have enough memory to be happy. Are my conclusions correct?

If so I would like to start by buying a pretty good mb, a marginal amount of ram and a wimpy processor with the intent of upgrading it later. For the next year I will be practicing in my home with two other computers. Any suggestions? Either brands, models or hot chipsets?
