Can anyone help...my problem is a bit long but here goes!!!
I have recently purchased a Philips 400gb external hard drive (ref - SPE3040cc) to be used for backing documents up from my pc. It did not come with any drivers just 'Plug & Play'. I connected it and my pc seemed to recognise it, i looked in 'My Computer' and i could see an extra drive identified as 'G'. I downloaded a free back up software called 'Goodsync' and installed it. I tried to set up am initial back up but i got a message from the Goodsync saying that it could not recognise my external hard drive!!
I looked at 'Device Manager' and i could see a Hitachi HDT storage divice but not my Philips one. I rebooted my pc and went into 'My Computer' to my surprise my Philips deivce was now showing! i started my back up and everything went well, after the back up i checked that all my documents had backed up correctly...not a problem.
Later that day i turned my pc on again and noticed that in 'My Computer' my external device was showing again as a 'G' drive and was not labelled up as a Philips one. I went to look within the drive but no documents are there!!! This is strange as only a few hours earlier they were there.
Could someone please help me sort out this problem...this is the third external hard drive i have purchased and all seem to have the same problem.
