loved that game lol. the reason that i like it so much is the fighting gameplay and how fluid it is , also i loved the cut scenes and storyline. however i can see where your coming when you say its linear which it is, it just happens to be one of those games i really like.(like dynasty warriors , the most repetitive game i know, yet i play them for hours)

^^^ At any rate, I find the Playstation consoles as a whole to be nothing but a host of rehashed, hack-and-slash, waterd-down shooters, and wanna be platformers. Don't get me wrong, I loved Sony in the days of the PS1 and the early years of the PS2, but somewhere along the way they forgot how to make GOOD games. They've failed to appeal to everyone's taste in terms of game type. I love FPS' but have yet to find one that I like for the PS2. What also adds to that is the layout of the thumbsticks, which happen to be too close together and on the same axis.

But, back to the topic.... God of War, in my view, is a mediocre action game with a nice premise. The story is good, as well as the graphics, but after that, I'm not impressed by anything else about the game.

Don't forget it was Sony's console that had buzz, singstar, eyetoy, a large selection of japanese RPGs, lots of driving games and numerous other genres.

but if you look at the MAJORITY of successful titles, all Sony really brings to the table is the same crap over and over with either better graphics or a different name. i'm sick of sony and their lack of innovation. for the love of god, i want to like them but i can't find it in me to do so.

their first attempt at innovation in a long time happens to be a ripoff of nintendo's motion sensor tech with the controller. for christ's sake, at least try to be original.

shadow of the collosus was a good game, but it wasn't successful in terms of sales. all i want to see is something from sony that hasn't been done to death. venture outside of GTA or Jak and Daxter. Sony seems to have forgotten how to appeal to hardcore gamers as well as casual gamers. but the most important contributers are those just starting out in their venture into video game playing. failure to bring a new audience for every console cycle will result into failure with the console.

I was very disapointed by God of War (the first) i never realy understood what all the fuss was about realy. I can't say i won't play the number 2 if the reviews about it turn out to realy be good.
We will see then!

exactly. i'm willing to give the game a try but i don't have my hopes up. from an interview with some of the game's developers at E3, they haven't really enhanced the gameplay since the first at all. they claim that the main point of the game is to tell the story, but if i wanted to be told a story, i'd have my mom read to me. so, for those of you who are expecting tons of innovation in this game, i suggest you lower those expectations.
