When I try to log in using a Netilla device my computer was closing down. I scanned the computer and installed McAfee but it still comes up with the message 'Registry Editor is disabled by your administrator' or something like that.

It can be closed down but I wondered if this was still avirus.

Also my CD drive does not work on my laptop - its old but does the job. How easy is it to fix it myself as my local computer shop does not fix laptops???!!!

Ok if it is just the registry that wont load it is a virus that you have on your computer and i am 99% sure about this. There are a multitude of ways to solve this, but firstly if you have virus software on your system do a full update then run a full system scan and see if it comes up with anything. ALso download and run the program 'Spybot search and destroy' and update and scan with that. It is a virus so any other forums that are just giving you options to re-enable the registry editor are not giving you the best option ebcause the virus is still present on your syste, make sure you do the full system scan after update in safe mode.

Please let me know how this goes or if it finds anything.

With regards to your laptop drive, they are very fidly and dependant on how old your drive is it could of just reached its end, it might be worth looking into getting a new one? how Old is it?

Thanks for your prompt response - I have McAfee and the scan details are:
Rule Type- Registry
c:\WINDOWS\system32\rund1132.exe then Process Description : Run a DLL as an APP.
Not a clue what this means?!!! The other items the scan detected were removed but the message is still coming up.
The laptop was bought in 2004 and its a Packard Bell. How easy is it to buy a disk drive and put it in myself with little purposeful computer knowledge?!

ok next option is ensure that you have completley backed up all of your documents and files and it might be easier just to run a system restore, when you got the laptop you will of got some cd's with it, one of them will be a restore disk, ( WARNING: any programs including MS office that were not on the laptop when you first recieved it will be lost and you will have to reinstall them when the laptop has been restored). Put the restore disk in the drive then restart your Laptop, it should have some instructions on running a restore with the cd if not the on screen instructions are pretty esy to follow. Then let windows install and then rn windows update when it has full loaded up this entire process without running windows update will normally take on average about 40-50 mins. Let me know if you need any furher help just please ensure that you have backed up your personal documents and images before doing this.

If you have not got the restore cd then let me know and i will talk you through a much longer process.

Good Luck!

Its my desk top that has the virus problem (my laptop just has a broken CDROM drive and I wanted to connect it to my network while the desktop is playing up, but that is another story!)

Unfortunately I havent got the restore disk and the computer is ancient although it has had a new motherboard, processor etc about 4 years ago.

I can't seem to turn the computer on in safe mode as I have a usb keyboard, is there any way around this?
I'll be backing all my files up, have a check for a restore disk and then get back to you.
Thanks
